Welcome, I'm Ros. I'm a Mum of two gorgeous girls and together with my husband and mini long haired dachshund, live in the northern suburbs of Melbourne, Australia.

I started sewing in 2010, mainly for my girls, and it's been a work in progress ever since. I'll give anything a try, and I think I'll always consider myself a beginner. I love selecting fabric, putting colours together, and discovering new patterns, but most of all, I love when someone says to my daughter "that's a lovely dress" and she replies "thanks - my Mum made it for me on her sewing machine!"

I'm not sure what my style is, it's always evolving, but if I had to describe it, I'd say colourful and modern.

I sew on a Janome 419S - a very basic machine that I bought second hand on eBay. It hasn't missed a beat and has been a great little workhorse. My husband surprised me for my birthday last year with a Janome 744D overlocker which has been brilliant. I've finally got myself set up with a permanent sewing space which I love, you can see it here.

When I'm not doing the school run, grocery shopping, laundry or changing a nappy, I also love to cook, read books, try other crafts, read blogs and decorate fun cakes for family and friends. I currently work part time as a medical receptionist at a radiology clinic.

Thanks for joining me here! You can also find me on Facebook, Instagram, Pinterest, Twitter and Google +. I'd love to hear from you, email me anytime! roslynruss{at}gmail{dot}com

  1. Kudos, Lenny Kravitz is not bad for a first gig, it'd pass the RocKwiz test I think. Mine was NKOTB, embarrassing for a long time, but now so bad it's cool again. And yay for permanent Ikea sewing space. Hurrah! Melbourne is better than Sydney. Agreed. Great 'about'!
